There has been increased speculation linking highly-rated Brazilian Hernanes with a move to Premier League giants Liverpool.
It has been claimed by the Brazilian press that Rafa Benitez is chasing the midfield playmaker, who is being dubbed the 'new Kaka'.
The Reds boss will step up his chase for the talented South American in the January transfer window.
The 24-year-old's full name is Anderson Hernanes de Cavalho Andrade Lime, and he is currently playing for Brazilian league leaders Sao Paulo.
Hernanes has been linked to a host of European clubs such as AC Milan and Juventus, but the Italian clubs have struggled to raise the fee Sao Paulo are demanding.
The midfielder himself has claimed his love for Serie A, however the financial lure of the Premier League could sway the Brazilin to the shores of England.
Hernanes told Gazzetta dello Sport: "I'm a player who loves to think on the pitch.
"I understood that in every player there's the time to evaluate and do the best things. My best qualities are probably dribbling with the ball and my hard shot.
"The comparison with Pirlo is very good, it definitely pleases me."
Despite his desire to play in Serie A, Hernanes would be at home at the Merseyside club with the likes of fellow countrymen Fabio Aurelio, Diego Cavalieri and Lucas Leiva.
They could play a vital role in attracting him to the club.
