Lazio have urged Liverpool to produce a solid offer for Hernanes if they wish to secure the Brazilian midfielder's signature before the end of the week.
The 28-year-old is in his fourth season at Lazio, where he has established himself as one of the leading midfielders in Serie A.
Hernanes has struck 33 league goals since his arrival from Sao Paulo and attracted admiring glances from the Premier League, with Spurs and Arsenal believed to be keen on him in the past.
Liverpool are thought to be monitoring him at the moment, with Brendan Rodgers currently short of midfield options due to Lucas Leiva's latest injury setback.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito admits he would be loath to lose Hernanes, but says he would consider cashing in if a mega offer came his way.
"Hernanes has not been put up for sale by Lazio, but if an indecent offer came it would be assessed," he is quoted as saying on TMW. "His value is recognised at international level - it is not easy to find a player with his qualities."
