Juan Mata has ended any speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool by agreeing a new deal with Valencia.
Recent media reports had suggested the 21-year-old could be a target for Liverpool and Barcelona with talks stalling with the Spanish club.
While Mata's contract has yet to be extended, he has received a significant increase in salary. The minimum release fee clause also remains the same, valued at around 90 million euros.
The winger broke into the Valencia side in 2007 and has impressed in his two season at the club scoring five goals already this season.
Mata's father and agent, Juan Manuel, said: "This is the price for the excellent two seasons that the kid is developing at the club.
"We are satisfied after the last meetings."
Sporting director Fernando Gomez was quick to play down any speculation that Mata could soon leave the Mestalla.
"We have not received any formal propositions. I do not say that will be the same in the future".
