Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is preparing to do battle with former club Swansea City and Ajax to land Benfica winger Ola John on loan.
Rodgers is looking to strengthen his attacking options this month - he has already been linked with Barcelona's Cristian Tello and FC Basel's Mohamed Salah - and he is now in pursuit of Holland international John.
The 21-year-old, who joined Benfica from FC Twente in 2012, has managed only seven appearances in all competitions this term and has failed to start a single league fixture.
As such, the Portuguese giants are preparing to farm him out this month, with Liverpool heading a trio of clubs to sign him on a temporary deal.
Dutch newspaper AD claim Ajax and Swansea are also keen on the attacker, who scored four goals last season.
