There is still hope for Liverpool in the chase to sign Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen, after the Dutch club denied they has received a bid from Borussia Dortmund for the Dane.
Liverpool looked to be out of the race yesterday, when several reports surfaced suggesting that Dortmund had agreed a £13million deal for Eriksen, but Ajax sporting director, Marc Overmars, has denied a deal.
"The Danish press publishes all kind of stories, but Dortmund have not made a formal offer for Eriksen," Overmars is quoted as saying in Voetbal Zone when quizzed on reports of a bid.
Liverpool have been in the hunt for Eriksen for some time, and they still retain hope of signing the star, after Overmars' denial of a bid from German giants Dortmund.
Liverpool see Eriksen as the perfect signing that will help them regain a Champions League berth and challenge for titles, and his signing would certainly be a sign of intent from manager Brendan Rodgers.
There is a major renovation project happening at Anfield this summer, as Rodgers searches for players who will guide Liverpool up the table.
