Kenny Dalglish is lining up a move for Stoke centre-back Ryan Shawcross and Utrecht striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel as his first signings as Liverpool manager.
The Anfield legend was named as Liverpool manager until the end of the season at the weekend, following the departure of Roy Hodgson.
After watching his side being knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester United on Sunday, Dalglish is reported to be keen on bolstering his squad in the January transfer window.
Ryan Shawcross is said to be high up on Dalglish's wish list as the 23-year-old defender continues to impress at Stoke.
Van Wolfswinkel was a continual target for Hodgson during his short time at Anfield, but the former Fulham boss was unable to lure the Utrecht striker to Liverpool.
Dalglish is now planning on redoubling efforts to sign the talented 21-year-old.
However, the new Liverpool boss may face competition to sign the forward, with reports that Napoli have also tabled a bid for Van Wolfswinkel.
