LFC make teenage superstar 'approach'

Liverpool have reportedly approached Anderlecht with regards to the availability of Romelu Lukaku.

The 17-year-old Belgian international is being courted by the cream of Europe as his stock continues to rise, and Liverpool are believed to be one of the teams keen on landing the player.

Damien Comolli, Director of Football Strategy at Anfield, has approached the Belgian Pro League champions with a view to a potential move for the player.

Real Madrid, Chelsea and Arsenal are also thought to be keen on the player, but Liverpool appear to be making the strongest moves for the player just a day after Roy Hodgson left the club.

The press reports claim that the Merseysiders would have to pay an initial fee in the region of €17 million, rising to around €23 million depending on appearnces, goals and other clauses whilst at Liverpool.

New owners NESV are thought to have promised the club money to spend, and Kenny Dalglish will now take charge of the purse strings whilst working alongside Comolli at Anfield.

An attacking foil for Fernando Torres is thought to be the main priority for the club, and Liverpool have also been linked with Luis Suarez, Mario Gomez and Alvaro Negredo in recent weeks.

Lukaku is the most exciting proposition for the Barclays Premier League outfit, and his signature would represent a real coup for Liverpool were they able to secure his signing.
