WRITES JAN MOLBY
The Blackburn game was a real humdinger - you couldn't take your eyes off it!
You didn't know what was going to happen next.
From Kenny Dalglish's point of view, having taken a two-goal lead he would have expected them to see it out.
Mistakes led to the game being quickly back on.
There was a sending-off, penalties and incidents galore. Those sorts of matches are one in a million.
There was nothing malicious about what Alexander Doni did.
He went for the ball but mistimed it. Rightly or wrongly, in that situation the referee is always going to show a red card.
Possibly Brad Jones could have gone as well when he pushed Yakubu over in the second-half.
But again it is how the referee views it. Anthony Taylor obviously felt Yakubu was going to be unable to collect the ball and get a shot off before the Liverpool defence got back to him.
Jones remains favourite to start at Wembley and he could not have had a better start at Ewood Park, saving Yakubu's first penalty.
You could see that there was some rustiness there, that is to be expected, but that save will give him real confidence.
He is obviously is far better than what we saw at Blackburn on Tuesday night.
Having Daniel Agger back in the side will shore up the defence and help push them three or four yards further up the pitch.
Jones does not want his defenders on top of him.
You can be sure Everton will be working on forcing Liverpool back.
There would not have been many FA Cup semi-final places up for grabs on Tuesday night for Liverpool but one or two players may have worked their way into the starting line-up.
How much money would you pay in the transfer market for a goal-scoring midfielder? Maxi Rodriguez has scored 11 goals in 10 Premier League starts.
Maxi's ability to arrive late in the box is a real skill. It is all about timing.
His second goal against Blackburn was a superb finish. That volley was difficult, make no mistake.
Andy Carroll kept going and kept going. Football is all about confidence and Carroll will surely take a lot from Tuesday.
Whoever the manager picks alongside Luis Suarez will be really interesting.
Liverpool have to take some precautions about how Everton play and set-pieces is a big, big part of their game.
And so would you want Andy Carroll in the box defending them?
You probably would.
