Liverpool are considering a move for Swedish international left-back Oscar Wendt and have been encouraged to follow up their interest in Tottenham's Niko Kranjcar.
Manager Roy Hodgson has had the 25-year-old Wendt watched extensively and could sign him for a reasonable price in January as his contract is up in the summer.
Wendt, who has also attracted interest from West Ham, has won three Danish league titles in four seasons with FC Copenhagen and has 13 caps for Sweden.
Liverpool's Danish scout Jakob Friis-Hansen said: 'We are keeping a close eye on Wendt. He does a good job. He needs to perform under pressure each week, whereas there are few tough games in Denmark. He would possibly benefit from first moving to a league such as Germany's - but maybe that will not be necessary.'
Friis-Hansen also confirmed Liverpool are continuing to monitor Sweden's other left-back Behrang Safari, 25, of Basel, who has been watched by Fulham.
Meanwhile, Tottenham midfielder Kranjcar has admitted he is considering his future but his father Zlato, who is Montenegro national team manager, said: 'Niko is definitely leaving Tottenham. That is his choice and I totally agree with him.'
