Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson intends to make a move for Wigan Athletic defender Maynor Figueroa if he is able to sell Emiliano Insua.
Serie A club Fiorentina are prepared purchase Insua this summer and the new Reds boss is going to spend that money on Figueroa, according to The Mirror.
Insua endured a tough season at Liverpool last year, losing his place in the Argentina squad and was eventually dropped from the Reds starting XI as well.
However, Fiorentina are prepared to take a risk on the 21-year-old and could buy the Argentine for £5 million.
The money Liverpool makes off of the Insua deal should be enough to convince Wigan to give up Figueroa, a Honduras international that scored a famous 60-yard goal against Stoke City last season.
