Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is ready to bring forward his plans to sign Spartak Moscow midfielder Romulo, according to reports from The Metro.
The Brazilian enforcer was said to be on the Reds chief's summer hit-list following his impressive displays in the Russian top flight.
However, with Lucas Leiva set to miss at least the next few weeks with a knee injury, the Northern Irishman is desperate to seal a deal before next week's deadline passes.
Reports suggest that Liverpool have contacted Spartak to discuss a deal for the 23-year-old, and are willing to pay a respectable fee for his signature - around £7m.
But, the Moscow side are said to be holding out for closer to £10m and are in no desperate hurry to sell.
Romulo has eight caps for his national side, and has often been lauded for his combative yet skilful playing style.
Arsenal have previously been linked with the South American star who may be keen on a Premier League move with the 2014 World Cup around the corner.
