Liverpool want to agree a deal to sign Spartak Moscow midfielder Romulo as Brendan Rodgers looks to add to his midfield options.
Reds boss Rodgers had included 23-year-old Romulo in his list of top targets for the summer transfer window, with key players like Lucas Leiva out injured, the club are ready to move in now.
According to reports in Russia, Liverpool have approached Spartak and asked them to name a price for the Brazilian defensive midfielder, who has eight caps for his country.
A tall, strong and powerful enforcer, Romulo is also known for his excellent passing range and ability to play in defence.
Spartak would prefer to sell at the end of the season, but would likely do business if Liverpool were prepared to get closer to the £10million mark.
Arsenal and Barcelona have previously been linked with Romulo, while Chelsea were known to be scouting him during his time at Vasco da Gama.
