LIVERPOOL boss Brendan Rodgers says the club have not given up on signing Basel star Mohamed Salah.
The highly-rated attacker, 21, is believed to be moving to Chelsea after an £11m fee was agreed with the Swiss champions.
However, the man dubbed the "Egyptian Messi" has yet to undergo a medical or agree personal terms with Jose Mourinho's side.
Liverpool are rumoured to be preparing a late £18m offer to trump the Blues, and Rodgers added fuel to the fire by claiming that the Anfield side still have a chance of landing the fleet-footed midfielder.
"The window is not closed yet so we haven't given up on him, no," said the Kop chief.
"Salah was a player we're interested in and we hoped we could do a deal but as of yet there is nothing done on it."
However, Chelsea boss Mourinho is convinced that the Egypt international will be plying his trade at Stamford Bridge, claiming: "Everything is signed and done with Basel subject to the medical.
"We know he is very happy to come.
"He can play left, right or as a No.10. He's fast, creative, enthusiastic, a humble personality on the pitch and works for the team."
