Express: Reds get Caulker boost

Liverpool and Tottenham have been given encouragement over their pursuit of Steven Caulker while Gary Medel could also leave Cardiff due to relegation release clauses in the pair's contracts.

Cardiff's fate was sealed this weekend when Sunderland beat Manchester United as the Bluebirds were thrashed by Newcastle.

And while Caulker said in the aftermath of that match he expected to return next season, reports suggest that may not actually be the case.

Indeed, it has been suggested that both Caulker and Medel have clauses in their contract that can be triggered following Cardiff's relegation.

Both Liverpool and Tottenham have been linked with Caulker in recent times, while Medel could also attract attention from Premier League clubs after an impressive debut campaign in England.
