Barca eye Masch hit with £30m

Barcelona are ready to test Liverpool's resolve with a £30 million bid for Javier Mascherano.

The Reds rebuffed Barca's attempts to lure Mascherano last summer and the Catalan giants reckon they will have more success this time around.

The midfielder's future is in doubt after he left for the World Cup without agreeing a new contract and was said to be disappointed when he could not leave last summer.

Barca coach Pep Guardiola is a big admirer of Mascherano and has earmarked the £27m from Yaya Toure's impending sale to fund a swoop.
