Steven Gerrard has been named as England's vice-captain.
The Liverpool midfielder was handed the role after coach Fabio Capello withdrew the armband from Chelsea's John Terry.
Capello confirmed: "When I chose John Terry as captain, I also selected a vice-captain and also named a third choice. There is no reason to change this decision."
Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has been installed as the skipper of the Three Lions.
