Ashley Young and Steven Taylor are among the players new Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson wants to strengthen his squad, according to reports.
Hodgson only took charge at Anfield last week, but has already lost Yossi Benayoun from the squad he inherited from Rafa Benitez.
The ex-Fulham manager knows he will need to rebuild the squad this summer and has his eyes on Aston Villa winger Young and Newcastle United defender Taylor.
According to the Mail on Sunday, Hodgson is planning to move quickly and will speak to Villa boss Martin O'Neill about Young's availability this week.
Hodgson is also lining up a bid for Taylor, who only has 12 months remaining on his current Newcastle contract and is stalling on signing the new deal he has been offered.
A bid of £5 million is likely to be made in the coming days, according to the Sunday Mirror.
The new Liverpool boss is also believed to be planning a move for ex-Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva, who now plays for Panathinaikos.
