Arsenal and Liverpool’s attempts to prise Juan Mata from Valencia look set to end in failure after club president Manuel Llorente claimed he will not be sold at any price.
The 23-year-old has been the subject of fierce speculation all summer as Arsene Wenger attempts to compensate for the potential blow of losing Samir Nasri or Cesc Fabregas and Kenny Dalglish tries to build a side capable of challenging for Champions League qualification.
But Llorente has issued a firm rebuffal, telling potential suitors that Mata will not go the same way as David Villa or David Silva in leaving Valencia for the highest bidder.
He told Superdeporte: "The decision is clear and money will not change our position. Valencia will not sell to any club that wants to buy Mata."
