Zenit St Petersburg have emerged as genuine contenders to land Liverpool target Mohamed Salah, according to reports in Russia.

The 23-year-old Basel ace is high on Brendan Rodgers' wanted list with the Reds boss keen to add to his attacking options this month.

It has been reported that Liverpool are close to agreeing a deal for the Egyptian.

It has been suggested that manager Luciano Spalletti could be ready to spend around £12m to land the forward before the window shuts with Basel seemingly ready to cash in.
