Inter Milan are edging ahead of Liverpool in the race for Udinese utility man Mauricio Isla.
According to reports in Italy, the San Siro giants have made contact with their Serie A rivals about a possible £13m switch.
The right-back, who is equally adept in central defence or across the midfield, has openly spoken about the chances of leaving Udinese in the summer while sources in Chile have also claimed that his departure is a foregone conclusion.
Isla has been on Liverpool's radar for some time but they could be about to miss out with Inter Milan poised to sign him.
Inter are currently down in seventh in Serie A, 17 points off leaders and arch rivals AC Milan, and are desperate to inject some fresh blood into an ageing backline.
