Former Liverpool, Tottenham and Norwich target Toby Alderweireld has put Premier League clubs on red alert after admitting he is unhappy at Atletico Madrid.

The classy Belgian was in high demand during the summer but eventually decided to leave Ajax for Atletico, despite strong interest from English clubs.

But he has had a miserable first six months with the high-flying Spanish club, starting just three La Liga games since his £6.1m move from Holland.

And now he has admitted that he is unhappy in Spain, which could tempt his Premier League admirers to reprise their interest.

He told Sport-1: "I miss Ajax, their style of play, my ex-teammates - at Atleti, I can't be happy if I'm not playing.

"The team is doing well and I continue to fight for my place, but I don't think it's my fault."
