Brendan Rodgers may not be done with the January transfer window just yet, after agreeing a fee of Inter Milan's Philippe Coutinho Liverpool may move for Tottenham Hotspur's young midfielder Alex Pritchard.
News that Lewis Holtby is on his way from Schalke may be enough to give Liverpool the upper hand in talking with the attacking midfielder who has yet to make his debut for Spurs.
Pritchard has been at the centre of Spurs' impressive NextGen development team over the last year and was reported to have caught the eye of Real Madrid and Barcelona scouts his performances in November.
The Merseysiders are now plotting a move for the player with former Spurs' youth coach and current Liverpool reserve team coach Alex Inglethorpe keeping an interest in the 19-year-old.
Pritchard's contract with Spurs is nearing an end and although he will be offered an extension it is reported that he wishes to keep his options open giving Inglethorpe and Rodgers a chance to convince him that his future may be best away from White Hart Lane.
The youngster is yet to make his full debut at Spurs but was called up to the first team squad for last year's Europa League.
