Liverpool and Swansea are locked in the battle for Benfica winger Ola John, reports Algemeen Dagblad.
The Dutch footballer has seen little playing time at Estadio da Luz this term and is likely to be allowed to leave the club on loan in the January transfer window.
And even though Eredivisie giants Ajax were believed to be leading the chase, the 21-year-old also has suitors from England and Germany.
According to Dutch daily newspaper Algemeen Dagblad, Liverpool and Swansea are both interested in signing John this month.
Both sides have some important players on the sidelines and believe the youngster would further increase competition for places.
The Liberian-born footballer featured in 22 league matches in his first season at the club having arrived from Twente, but he has only made five substitute appearances in the league this term.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are tied on points with title rivals Sporting and Porto, and are available at 13/10 for the league title.
