Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is ready to test Tottenham’s resolve to keep hold of Brazilian midfielder Sandro.
The Reds want to strengthen their engine-room after the season-ending injury to Lucas Leiva.
Sandro is frustrated at a lack of playing time at Spurs but they want him to stay as cover for Scott Parker.
The 22-year-old signed for Tottenham in 2010 for £8million, but despite brief glimpses of quality, has never nailed down a regular role in Harry Redknapp's side.
Now Dalglish is believed to be pondering a move for the former Internacional starlet, although Italy has been mooted as the midfielder's most likely destination should he leave White Hart Lane.
Sandro's agent Luiz Paulo Chignall said: 'A move to Italy? Sandro is interested in playing in the major leagues, and Serie A is one of them.
'In footballl you can never rule anything out, though, with it possible that negotiations will see all parties reach an agreement.
'Many clubs have contacted me for information on his situation, but there has been no official proposal. He's a Tottenham player and any possible negotiations must pass through the club.'
