Skysports.com understands that Southampton are leading the chase for Liverpool starlet Nathan Eccleston.
Eccleston is highly rated by the Anfield hierarchy and will be allowed to leave on loan in order to increase his first-team experience.
The 19-year-old spent time with League One outfit Huddersfield last season and scored on his Terriers debut against Yeovil Town.
Eccleston has featured twice in Europa League action for Liverpool this term while he also came off the bench late on against Northampton.
Southampton manager Nigel Adkins and chairman Nicola Cortese watched Eccleston score in Monday's 3-1 reserves defeat to Chelsea.
The pair are believed to have been impressed with the youngster and are keen to have him on board for Saturday's visit of rivals Bournemouth.
The talented teenager is very much a player in demand and Championship outfit Bristol City are also believed to be interested.
