Olympiacos are hoping for a breakthrough in attempts to sign Liverpool outcast Albert Riera, but interest from elsewhere could yet scupper the move.
Reports in Greece claim a deal has been agreed for the Spain winger to join Olympiakos for about £4million, but Sportsmail understands hurdles still need to be overcome before Riera seals his exit from Anfield.
The Piraeus club are ready to offer the 28-year-old a three-year deal worth about £35,000 a week as part of an ambitious summer recruitment policy that has also seen them linked with AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso, Juventus striker David Trezeguet and Tottenham target Julio Baptista of Roma.
Juventus and Riera's former club Espanyol have also been linked with the Anfield man this summer and Liverpool are prepared to cash in.
The left-sided player was fined and suspended by the Reds in March for criticising then Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez.
