Reds move in on Magpies ace

Liverpool are reportedly planning a £15m raid on Newcastle for their highly-rated full-back Jose Enrique this summer.

The Reds have put the Spaniard at the top of their transfer targets list following an impressive season for the Magpies as they look to plug a problem position.

Former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez actually tried to sign the player four years ago but he opted instead to snub the advances of the Anfield club and Manchester City in favour of a £6.3m move to the North-East outfit from Villarreal.

However, Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is hopeful of a better outcome this time as he continues to stall on a decision to sign a new contract at St James' Park, although there is also interest from AC Milan.

Everton full-back Leighton Baines is another name on Liverpool's radar but the Toffees are understandably reluctant to sell one of their prized assets to their big Merseyside rivals.
