Rod Fanni chose Marseille ahead of Liverpool last night, as he headed for the south of France to complete a £3 million move.

A hitch over terms put the deal on hold earlier this week, but with that resolved, Fanni, 29, was having a medical and preparing to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract.
