According to Footylatest, Liverpool are tracking Mainz winger Lewis Holtby.
The player is on loan from Schalke 04 and has helped the German club to their 100% start to the season. Mainz sit top of the Bundesliga with 21 points from seven games, and Holtby has been one of the players who has especially impressed. The 20 year old is of English-German descent and has played for Germany's U21s. He has not decided which country to play for yet although he has intimated that he would like to play for Germany:
"I would definitely listen to [Capello]. There is always a chance for a conversation. There is always a chance to talk and to listen about things. I would never say no to a conversation. England and Germany own 50% of my heart and I really love both countries and I pay respect to all of them and especially to a great guy like Capello - he's a legend in the sport of football. As I haven't played for the A team for Germany it's all open but I'd like to play for Germany. I would be delighted if the coach would nominate me for the next games or the future but you never know, in football everything is possible."
Holtby has a Liverpudlian father although he is apparently an Everton fan. According to the website, Holtby is available for £9m.
