Liverpool were last night mounting a major effort to sign former Lazio striker Goran Pandev on a free transfer next month in a bid to boost their season.

I understand the highly-rated 26-year-old Macedonian has become the number one priority in the January window, with Kop boss Rafa Benitez desperate to increase Liverpool's firepower in the second half of the season.
