Liverpool are set to miss out on Blaise Matuidi after Paris Saint-Germain moved in on the St Etienne midfielder.
Matuidi has been a long-time Anfield target, and the Reds are reportedly willing to pay around £8m for the 24-year-old.
But PSG, who are now backed by Qatar Sports Investments, have made a bid of over £9m for Matuidi, and could reportedly go even higher for a player called 'the new Claude Makelele'
And that is likely to see Liverpool drop out of the bidding for a player that has previously attracted interest from Arsenal.
