Christian Poulsen's representative claims Liverpool have yet to indicate that they want to sell the midfielder.
The Denmark international made just nine appearances in his debut Premier League campaign after seemingly struggling to adjust to the pace of the English top flight.
Poulsen was signed by Roy Hodgson last summer, but the former Liverpool boss was sacked and replaced by Kenny Dalglish in January.
The 31-year-old played only six times under Dalglish and reported bids for Sunderland's Jordan Henderson suggest there will be changes in midfield this summer.
But Poulsen's advisor, Jorn Bonnesen, told Danish newspaper B.T.: "It could be that Christian is in the pool of players who are up for sale, but we have not heard anything about that.
"There has been no contact with Liverpool, and we stick to the contract.
"We will not consider anything before we have heard from Liverpool that they don't want to keep Christian. We will remain loyal to Liverpool."
Poulsen's compatriot, Daniel Agger, is a firm part of Dalglish's rebuilding plans at Anfield and the club has been boosted by the centre-back's return to light training.
The defender sustained a knee injury in the defeat at West Brom at the beginning of April, but he is expected to be ready for pre-season.
Agger's agent, Per Steffensen, said: "He has had his leg in plaster for a long time and has been walking with crutches.
"But he has started to run and during his holiday he has an exercise plan to stick to.
"So nothing should stand in his way from beginning training with his teammates."
