Pearce set to announce U21 squad

Stuart Pearce will today announce his England squad for the European U21 Championship, with Jack Wilshere and Andy Carroll likely to be included.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger fears Wilshere will suffer burn-out if he plays in Denmark in June, but the player is keen on travelling with the squad and has encouraged £35million Liverpool striker Carroll to join him.

Carroll is also among Pearce's first choice but Liverpool have a tense relationship with the FA after Steven Gerrard's injury.
