Liverpool are yet to agree a deal with Celta Vigo for forward Iago Aspas, but the talented 25-year-old HAS settled on a contract with the Anfield club.
As we exclusively revealed on these pages last week, the player and club were close to finalising personal terms and the subsequent negotiations have been successful.
It had been reported on Wednesday evening that the two clubs had come to an agreement over the striker's transfer fee - avoiding the release clause - but a source close to the player today conceded that this is not yet the case, even if all the other details were sorted.
The player would receive a £200,000 signing-on fee and a gross wage of £39,000 per week on completing the move, with Liverpool keen to tie the deal up with the Galician club before this weekend.
Celta play Espanyol needing to win, while hoping that Deportivo La Coruña don't, in order to survive in La Liga.
Relegation for the Vigo club would see Aspas' release clause dip to €7million (£5.9million), with the lower price allowing Valencia and a host of other clubs to go back in for the player - a scenario that the Reds are keen to avoid.
