France midfielder Yann M'Vila sparked transfer rumours aplenty in Liverpool after being spotted in the away end at the Merseyside derby.

The 23-year-old whipped tweeters into a frenzy when he was pictured with smiling Kop fans, with one presumptuous fan even commenting "Roll on January" and another claiming he would definitely be signing this winter.

However, the truth may be far more innocent.

The Rubin Kazan star is childhood friends with Reds centre-back Mamadou Sakho, having played with him from the age of 16 for the French national youth teams.
