Liverpool are believed to be plotting a £7m summer move for out-of-favour Manchester City defender Micah Richards.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to bolster his defensive options in the transfer window ahead of next season's Champions League campaign.
And Richards appears to be surplus to requirements at the Etihad, having made just 18 appearances over the last two seasons.
The England international has just a year remaining on his current deal, having elected not to sign a new contract with the Citizens and Manuel Pellegrini is unlikely to put up much of a fight if he asks to leave in the summer.
But whether City would sell to a top-four rival is another matter, especially with interest also coming in from abroad through AC Milan.
Tottenham are also said to be keen on the defender, but Richards is likely to favour a move to a Champions League side as he looks to restart his international career.
