Liverpool finally believe they have won the race for Derby County midfielder Will Hughes.
The Reds have been pursuing the highly-rated England U21 international all year and narrowly missed out on landing their man in the summer.
Hughes has also attracted the attention of Manchester United and Arsenal but Anfield manager Brendan Rodgers is now confident a deal will be wrapped up in January.
According to reports, the Rams are willing to part company with the talented 18-year-old after Liverpool agreed to meet their £12million asking price.
The Premier League giants have scouted the player extensively this season and decided to up their offer drastically after it emerged United and Arsenal were willing to pounce.
Hughes is one of the most highly sought after players outside of the top flight and Rodgers will be delighted to have beaten off his rivals to secure the play-maker's services.
