Liverpool's reported move for Adam Lallana, which could be completed this week, will be a superb start to the summer for Brendan Rodgers' side.
While some supporters may be arguing the value of spending a reported £20 million on the 26-year-old, there are far worse examples of exorbitant spending in the Premier League.
A player who was named in the PFA team of the year and the England squad for the summer's World Cup within the last month, and who is technically strong, comfortable in possession on either foot, and versatile - how would anything less than £20m be plausible?
Liverpool are back in the Champions League for the first time in five years next season and their squad this campaign has been lacking depth.
There is no need to argue over who is the starting XI, and Coutinho and Sterling - aged 21 and 19 - will actually benefit from not being overly relied upon.
Sterling benefited from not playing for the first half of the season, while his return to the side also allowed Coutinho to have a much required break as the two frequently rotated during Liverpool's 11-match winning run.
The truth is, even with all three attacking midfielders in their squad, each would play a valuable role and make 30 plus appearances in a season.
Lallana's price tag is even more vindicated when you consider the value of a homegrown player in the squad.
Manchester City are going to struggle to name eight homegrown players in their Champions League squad next season, especially if Micah Richards and Dedryck Boyata leave the club this summer. They'd love to have Lallana at their disposal.
Lallana is a superb addition at Anfield, fans need to trust the manager and owners of the club and enjoy the signing of such a player.
