McCarthy warns rivals off Jarvis

Everton and Liverpool have been promised a nasty response should they firm up their reported interest in Wolves winger Matt Jarvis next month.

The Merseyside rivals have both been credited with an interest in Jarvis, who has been tipped for an England call-up this season, but Mick McCarthy has no intention of letting the former Gillingham man leave.

"We're in a relegation scrap and the only way we will be able to dig our way out is with our best players," said McCarthy.

"They are here for the long haul and if anyone comes in for Jarvo or anyone else, they can Foxtrot Oscar."
