Maxi on verge of Liverpool deal

The Atletico Madrid midfielder Maxi Rodriguez now appears to be very close to finalizing a transfer to Liverpool, writes Guillem Balague.

He has been left out of the Spanish club's squad ahead of Wednesday's Cup tie against Recreativo. As we reported earlier, the situation has been moving quickly today and the final details on a two and a half year deal at Anfield are close to being agreed.

(Updated: A possible loan agreement in place of a permanent is also being discussed)
