La Liga side Mallorca are looking to strengthen their squad for next season by securing the signature of Albert Riera from Liverpool.
The Islanders, who defied all expectations last season to finish fifth in the Primera Division and qualify for next season's Europa League, are suffering from financial constraints, but are still hopeful of providing a strong performance in the tournament.
They recently announced the appointment of Michael Laudrup as their manager for next season, following the departure of Gregorio Manzano, and the Danish legend looks to have drawn up a list of targets already.
Marca comments that Riera, who fell out of favour with coach Rafael Benitez at Anfield last season, would be interested in a return to La Liga.
The Spaniard began his career at Mallorca before moving on to spells at Bordeaux, Espanyol and Manchester City before signing for the Reds in 2008.
Although he enjoyed a bright start to his Liverpool career, the winger slowly fell out of favour at Anfield before being transfer-listed after criticising manager Benitez in the press.
Riera has been heavily linked with a move to Russia, but a transfer failed to materialise and although he remains at Anfield he is widely expected to depart the club this summer despite the arrival of new manager Roy Hodgson.
