Borussia Dortmund want Liverpool target Diego Costa to replace Robert Lewandowski who is widely expected to leave the club at the end of the season.
Brazilian-born striker Costa has been in sensational form for Atletico Madrid this season - scoring 13 goals in as many games in La Liga.
The 25-year-old's form has attracted clubs across the continent with interest from Premier League sides including Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool - who tried to bring the forward to Anfield in the summer.
He has played in Spain since 2007 and recently became a Spanish citizen eligible to play for the national team - although he has been ruled out of his first call-up with a leg injury.
According to German magazine Sport Bild, Costa has a €24million (£20.1m) release clause in his contract and would be interested in a move to the Bundesliga, despite recently renewing his contract until 2018.
