Liverpool want Real Madrid wideman

Liverpool are ready to snap up Real Madrid bench warmer Royston Drenthe this summer.

The La Liga giants are ready to have a big clearout and Rafa Benitez has expressed an interest in the Dutchman, who has found it next to impossible to secure a place in the Bernabeu first team under new boss Manuel Pellegrini.

The 23-year-old left-sided player has started just five matches this season and is one of a host of stars set to leave as Real Madrid look to fund moves for a new set of Galaticos and could be ready to accept cut price deals to achieve a quick sale.

The Anfield boss is keen on bringing in another left-sided player and could be ready to use Drenthe as an advanced player ahead of Emiliano Insua as Liverpool look to sell Albert Riera in the very near future. The former Feyenoord man would welcome a move to the Premier League, where hopefully his career can recover and could help secure a first full international cap.

Liverpool could apparently secure the services of the stylish forward-thinking player for as little as £6m.
