Rivals Liverpool and Everton are set to battle for the signature of Stuttgart forward Pavel Pogrebnyak, after Tottenham dropped their interest in the player.
Russian publication Soviet Sport has indicated that Everton boss David Moyes is currently unhappy with the lack of goals being generated by his current strike force, with the Scot identifying Pogrebnyak as the man to cure his problems.
Despite this, rivals Liverpool are also said to be keeping tabs on the 26-year-old striker, as Roy Hodgson looks to sharpen the potency of his attacking options.
Stuttgart manager Fredi Bobic has acknowledged the interest from the Barclays Premier League, suggesting Tottenham have also been watching the player closely. Despite this, Bobic appears to be very keen on keeping the striker at his current club.
"I have been listening to rumours that Liverpool and Tottenham have their eyes on Pavel," Bobic stated.
"It's a fact. However, none of these clubs have been talking to us about him lately. He is a player of VfB Stuttgart."
