Liverpool target Dutch starlet

Liverpool are being linked with a January move for young Dutch striker Luuk De Jong.

The Netherlands U21 international signed for FC Twente in April 2009, and has been earning rave reviews for a string of fine performances in the Eredivisie.

Roy Hodgson is thought to be in the market for a new striker at Anfield, and The People report that Liverpool are weighing up a £2.5 million move for the player.

20-year-old De Jong began his career with De Graafschap, making his senior debut in 2008 before signing for his current club the following season.

After taking time to settle at De Grolsch Veste, De Jong came to the fore at the end of last season on the way to a famous Dutch title.

Starting the current campaign in fine form again, clubs from across Europe have started to take interest, with Liverpool and Real Zaragoza thought to be monitoring the player closest.
