Liverpool are looking to bring Croatian defender Dejan Lovren away from Olympique Lyonnais this summer, it has emerged.
However, according to a report on the Mirror Football website, Kenny Dalglish is facing major obstacles due to work permit problems.
A former Dinamo Zagreb player, Lovren was a mainstay of Lyon's Ligue 1 campaign this year, featuring in 28 matches.
Though his side failed to replicate the dominant success they have managed in recent years and finished in third place, twelve points off the pace set by champions Lille, Lovren ended the season with his reputation enhanced.
Still just 21 years old, Lovren has been a hugely exciting prospect in Croation football since making his debut in the national set-up for the under-17s back in 2004.
Starring all the way through age-group football, he made his debut for the senior side in 2009 and has won eight caps to date.
Standing six foot, two inches tall Lovren has enough of a physical presence to thrive in English football and has won many fans with his composure on the ball also.
After missing out on the acquisition of England Under-21 international Phil Jones to Manchester United, despite an audacious late bit of £22 million, Kenny Dalglish will be keen to finalise terms on such a canny piece of business.
Birmingham's Scott Dann has also been earmarked as a potential defensive recruit.
