Roy Hodgson is set to make a bid for Dutch international striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel as he looks to beef up his Anfield attacking options.
The 21 year old Utrecht goalscorer is highly thought of in Holland and has been linked with moves to both Ajax and PSV over the summer and the Liverpool boss is looking to snap up the youngster before the transfer window closes.
Van Wolfswinkel is not as yet a household name but has risen through the Dutch ranks and won his first international cap last week and has started the season well with three goals in his first two matches. The powerfully built forward would be one for the future and is a player Hodgson has sent scouts to observe in recent weeks.
Hodgson will hope that he will be given sufficient funds to bring in new additions before the transfer window closes and the former Vitesse man is valued at around £8m.
