Liverpool monitor French wing wonder

Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on French teenager Antoine Griezmann.

Merseyside scouts were sent to monitor the Real Sociedad winger in action for France under 20s on Tuesday, according to the Daily Mail, and an offer for the youngster could come to fruition in the summer.

Griezmann, 19, has gone relatively unnoticed by the France football hierarchy - playing just a handful of times for the national sides - but his performances in Spain have caught the eye of Liverpool director of football strategy Damien Comolli.

The LFC supremo was reported to have been considering an €8.2 million bid for the attacker in January but opted to hold fire and is expected to renew his interest when the transfer window reopens in June.

However, whether the reported valuation Liverpool have placed on Griezmann will be enough to land him remains to be seen after Goal.com reported that the starlet has a buyout clause of €30 million written into his contract, which expires in 2015.

Griezmann is just one of a number of Spanish based players Liverpool appear to be courting in their concerted efforts to bring more young players to Anfield.

Liverpool are also thought to be eyeing summer moves for Valencia starlet Paco Alcacer, Athletic Bilbao's Aymeric Laporte and Argentinian Mateo Musacchio as the New England Sports Ventures (NESV) attempt to fulfil their pledge of investing in the future at Anfield.

The Liverpool owners have highlighted investment in youth as one of their top-priorities and have also been linked with moves for Ipswich wonderkid Connor Wickham and Southampton winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as they look to build a squad to challenge for honours in the future.
