Liverpool are weighing up a summer move for Paris Saint-Germain's highly-rated defender Mamadou Sakho.
Sakho, 20, is a centre back but can also play on the left side of defence and has been touted as France's next big thing after making his debut in Les Blues' 2-1 win over England earlier this season.
And Kenny Dalglish has earmarked Sakho as a possible alternative to Gary Cahill, the Reds' main defensive target, should they be beaten to the Bolton stopper by Manchester City, according to the Mirror.
Cahill is rated at around £20million by Owen Coyle, and City's unrivalled spending power could prove too much for Liverpool to match. Sakho, however, would cost around half that.
Sakho's talks over a new contract with PSG have broken down and the versatile defender has been followed by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger since he impressed for France's Under 16 team in 2006.
Barcelona and both AC and Inter Milan have also been linked with a bid for Sakho.
