Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is believed to be interested in Anderlecht starlet Romelu Lukaku and hopes that he can beat a host of other interested parties to sign the highly rated teenager.
The Anfield manager is looking to adhere to the club's new owners insistence in investing in youth by making a significant bid for the Belgian international.
Hodgson has already publicly stated his desire to sign five or six players in January and hopes to beef up his striking options and is believed to now be interested in the talented 17 year old. Lukaku has already been linked with interest from the likes of Real Madrid, Arsenal and Chelsea, such has been explosive start to his professional footballing career.
In his first full season at Anderlecht Romelu managed 19 goals in all competitions helping his side to a domestic double. The £12m rated powerfully built striker is expected to leave his Brussels based club and may well be tempted by a move to the Premier League but Liverpool could well need to have be nearer to a top four position to help persuade the youngster to make the move to Anfield.
